RCIA

Opportunities for adults to grow in their faith are offered throughout the year through the Council Bluffs Area Catholic Religious Education Center and the Diocesan Office of Adult Faith Formation.

Offerings are also provided at the parish level in response to identified needs and suggestions from parishioners. For example; faith sharing groups, bible study groups, single parent support group and etc.

Queen of Apostles parish has an active R.C.I.A. team which ministers to adults through a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The R.C.I.A. is not something new. It is a return to the very early church and its ancient practice of missionary activity in the conversion process of new members. It was revised to modern times by a decree of the Second Vatican Council, and, later, approved by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. The process has become mandatory in all parishes in the dioceses of the United States.

The R.C.I.A. process continues to grow and become the best possible way to prepare adults who wish to become Catholics. This includes unbaptized persons, persons baptized in another Christian denomination, and Catholics who have not received sacraments other than Baptism. The schedule for our R.C.I.A. process will be announced in the parish bulletin and by personal contact with the candidate.

Through a process of listening and learning, of sharing the faith stories of the Word of God and their own faith stories and involvement in the rituals of the Church, the candidates make a journey of faith and discernment. The process is supported by parishioner participation and is open to all who are interested in becoming Catholic. Please contact the Queen of Apostles parish office (323-2916) for more information
